We carry 63 outdoor saunas from SaunaLife, Canadian Timber, ThermaSol and Kohler, and these picks come from their specifications and our current prices, checked October 5, 2026. Nobody pays to be on this list. Each pick says who it suits, what you get, and what it still needs, because a sauna's price rarely tells the whole story.
Barrel, cube or cabin?
Start with the shape. It decides how the sauna heats, how much room you have inside, and roughly what you will spend.
| Shape | Models | Starting prices | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Barrel | 24 | $4,390 to $8,276 | Fast heat-up, shedding rain and snow, the classic look |
| Cube | 9 | $3,990 to $10,990 | Small yards, big glass fronts, flat walls to lean on |
| Cabin and garden kits | 20 | $4,990 to $24,990 | Full standing height, porches and changing rooms |
| Premium cabins (ThermaSol, Kohler) | 10 | $31,883 to $75,028 | Heater included, high-end finishes, some arrive assembled |
- Barrels are round, which keeps the inside volume small so they heat up quickly, and the curved roof sheds water. The trade-off is headroom: the ceiling curves down over the benches.
- Cubes have flat walls and usually a full glass front. They fit tighter spaces, and the shape makes them easy to place against a fence or wall.
- Cabins are built like a small room. You can stand up straight, add a porch or a changing room, and fit more people, but they use more lumber, so they cost more.
Best value barrel: SaunaLife E7
Who it suits: a couple or a small family who want a well-built barrel without paying for extras they will not use.
The E7 seats up to 4 and is built from 1.65-inch Thermo-Spruce staves, with Thermo-Aspen benches and backrests. SaunaLife gives the Ergo barrels a 6-foot-5-inch inside height, which is generous for a barrel. The kit includes the black shingle roof, stainless steel bands and a Wi-Fi LED light system. It is $5,190.
What it still needs: a heater, which SaunaLife sells separately, and delivery, which is $950 by truck. If 3 seats is enough, the E6 is the same build for $4,390.
Best cedar barrel with a choice of heat: Canadian Timber Serenity
Who it suits: anyone who wants a cedar barrel and wants to decide between wood and electric heat at checkout.
The Serenity seats 5, is built from Eastern White Cedar and has 79 inches of inside height. It also has a covered porch with two benches out front, a spot to sit and cool down between rounds. You pick the heater as an option on the product page, and every heater offered is sized for the Serenity:
| Canadian Timber Serenity, no roof kit | Price |
|---|---|
| No heater | $6,213.50 |
| Narvi Kuru 14 wood stove | $7,638 |
| Harvia KIP 8kW electric heater | $7,644 |
| Huum Drop 7.5kW electric heater | $8,175 |
| LeisureCraft TimberGlow 14 wood stove | $8,190 |
| Homecraft Revive 7.5kW electric heater | $8,314 |
| Narvi NC 16 wood stove | $8,503 |
A black shingle roof adds $346.50, and a black metal roof adds $496.50. Canadian Timber saunas ship free to the curb on orders over $2,000. Going wood-fired also means no electrical work, which our home sauna cost guide shows can save thousands on an outdoor sauna.
Best barrel with a view: Canadian Timber Serenity MP
Who it suits: people who want more daylight inside and a view out while they sit.
The Serenity MP is the Serenity barrel with Canadian Timber's half-moon windows, including a full-width half-moon window in the back wall in bronze tempered double-pane glass. It keeps the same covered porch out front. It seats 5 and starts at $8,061.50 with no heater, from $9,486 with a wood stove and from $10,102 with a 9 kW electric heater. It also offers a knotty cedar bevel roof. For bigger groups, the Tranquility MP seats 6 with the same windows and porch and starts at $8,275.50.
Best for a small yard: SaunaLife CL3G cube
Who it suits: one or two people with a small patio or side yard.
The CL3G takes up just 53.2 by 51.2 inches of ground, a little over 4 by 4 feet, and still gives you 75.4 inches of inside height. The whole front is 8 mm tempered bronze glass, so it never feels like a box. At $3,990 it is the lowest-priced outdoor sauna room we carry; our portable sauna tents start at $599.25. Like every SaunaLife model, the heater is sold separately and delivery is $950.
Best glass-front cube for a family: SaunaLife CL5G
Who it suits: a family of 3 or 4 who want the view.
The CL5G seats up to 4 behind the same full bronze glass front, in an 80.7 by 63-inch footprint with 74.8 inches of inside height. It is $5,990. If you need room for 6, the CL7G is the same design for $7,990.
Best cabin for standing room: Canadian Timber Palmer
Who it suits: tall people, and anyone who wants a sauna that feels like a room rather than a pod.
The Palmer gives you 86.25 inches of inside height, more than any barrel or cube on this list, and seats 4. It starts at $7,232.50 with no heater, from $8,597.50 with a 6 kW electric heater and from $8,657 with a wood stove, with free curbside delivery.
Best for big groups: SaunaLife CL12GCP suite
Who it suits: families who sauna together, or anyone who hosts.
The CL12GCP is a full suite: a sauna room with two-tier benches for up to 8, a dressing room with its own benches, and a porch with built-in benches. It measures 91 by 151.6 inches and costs $10,990, plus $1,000 delivery and a heater. The SaunaLife G11 is the barrel-style alternative, with a changing room and sauna room for up to 8, at $14,990.
Best that arrives fully assembled: ThermaSol Fortis
Who it suits: buyers who want a finished, architectural sauna and do not want to assemble anything.
The Fortis arrives fully assembled, seats up to 4 and comes with a Harvia Virta heater run by a Harvia Xenio control. It has a tinted, UV-protective glass front, Tyrol wood walls and thermo-aspen benches. It is $36,619 plus $1,000 delivery, with a 1-year warranty from ThermaSol. It still needs a level base and an electrician to connect it.
Before you buy any outdoor sauna
- Measure the spot and add room for the door to swing and for the heater clearances in its manual.
- Plan the base. It has to be level, load-bearing and able to drain: a gravel pad, a concrete slab or a deck rated for the weight.
- Decide on the heat source before you order. Electric needs a dedicated 240V circuit; wood needs a chimney but no power; a propane gas heater needs neither, but the room needs the outdoor-vented air intake and exhaust in its manual.
- Size the heater with our Heater Size Calculator.
- Plan the delivery. Saunas arrive by truck at the curb, so line up two people to carry the pieces in.
- Check your town's rules on permits and how close a structure can sit to a property line.
