Canadian Timber Avalon 8' x 8' Outdoor Sauna
The Avalon is the largest room in the Canadian Timber Collection — an 8' x 8' sauna under a black standing seam metal roof whose overhang carries the overall footprint out to 10' x 10'.
Its defining feature is a three-tier bench system. Heat stratifies from floor to ceiling in every sauna, and three levels let you choose where you sit in it: the top bench for the fullest heat and löyly, the middle for a moderate session, the lower tier for entering, cooling down, or a gentler sit. The extra level also lifts your feet and body higher into the heat zone, which is the part experienced bathers notice first.
The walls are 2-3/4" double-groove solid Eastern White Cedar log, thick enough to hold temperature efficiently and give the room the structure and character of a true timber sauna rather than a panel kit. A large bronze tempered glass front window fills the interior with daylight and frames the view out.
The Canadian Timber Collection is Dundalk LeisureCraft's economically priced line — the same designs and the same Canadian craftsmanship as their flagship range, built with precision and shipped as an easy-to-assemble kit. Every piece is handcrafted in Ontario from Canadian wood sourced through local mills.
Choosing your heater
Dundalk sizes this room at 9 kW for a sauna electric heater and 14–16 for a wood-burning sauna stove. Every option in the dropdown meets or exceeds that — we do not list an undersized heater against 8' x 8' of solid log wall, because it will run cool and never recover between rounds.
- Electric — Huum Drop 9 kW, Homecraft Revive 9 kW, Homecraft Apex 10 kW, Huum HIVE Mini 9 kW. All require a final hookup by a certified electrician on a dedicated 240V circuit.
- Wood-burning — Narvi Kuru 14, Narvi NC 16, Narvi Kaamos 20. A wood stove needs a chimney kit, sold separately; the Avalon takes the out-the-side/back kit and we can quote it with your order.
Prefer no heater at all, or bringing your own? Select No Heater and the sauna ships ready for one. If you want to check the math for yourself, run the numbers through our sauna heater size calculator. Buckets, ladles, thermometers and cedar sauna accessories can ship alongside the sauna at no extra freight.
Comparing outdoor rooms? The Avalon sits at the top of our outdoor sauna range — see the full sauna lineup if you are still narrowing down size and heat source.
Care and maintenance
Cedar is naturally durable and asks very little. Keep the intake and outlet vents clear, open the door after each session so moisture can escape, wipe the benches down with a dry towel, and sit on a towel to protect the wood. Check that the stones have not shifted before you light or switch on the heater, and inspect the firebox and chimney before each fire if you are running wood. A Livos sauna oil on the exterior keeps the cedar looking new for longer.
Warranty
The sauna: 5 year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use, beginning the day you receive it. Dundalk LeisureCraft supplies free replacement parts on a valid claim. Service, labor and installation costs are not covered, and replacement parts do not extend the original 5 year term.
The heater and chimney kit are warranted separately, and the term depends on which one you choose:
- LeisureCraft chimney kits — 5 years, no exclusions
- Homecraft Apex, Homecraft Revive, HUUM Hive Mini and HUUM Drop — 3 years
- Narvi Kaamos, Kuru and NC Black wood heaters — 2 years
Heater warranties exclude heating elements and sauna rocks. Wood heater warranties also exclude the glass door and ash grate. HUUM electric heater warranties also exclude sensors.
Not covered: normal wear and tear, improper installation, insufficient or improper maintenance, natural weather conditions, and any failure to follow the manufacturer's installation, use or care instructions. Final electrical connection must be made by a licensed electrician — skipping this voids the warranty.
For warranty claims, contact us and we will file the claim with Dundalk LeisureCraft for you.
Build time: Canadian Timber products are built to order in Ontario, Canada. We confirm the current estimated build date with the manufacturer when your order is placed and pass it to you before production begins. Transit follows once the unit is built.
Delivery and unloading — please read before ordering
- Ships by freight to your curb or the end of your driveway, by appointment. Delivery is usually made with an 18-wheeler — check that one can reach your street and turn around.
- Crate weight for this model is confirmed with the manufacturer when your order is placed, and we pass it to you before it ships. Getting the crate off the truck is the customer’s responsibility. The driver will not unload it.
- Crates 84" or shorter can usually be lowered on the truck’s liftgate. Longer crates cannot — plan on a forklift (lifting from the end of the crate, fork extensions required), picking the crate up from the freight terminal with a trailer or tilt-tow truck, or a crew of helpers.
- Inspect before you sign. If the crate looks damaged you can still accept it — photograph it, write “Crate arrived open/damaged — possible hidden damage” on the Bill of Lading, and contact us right away.
- Answer the freight terminal’s call promptly to book your delivery window. Delays at the terminal can trigger storage charges.
- Read the manufacturer’s one-page delivery guide — three ways to unload a large crate, and a before-delivery-day checklist. Five minutes now saves a lot of trouble on delivery day.
Cancellations and returns: This item ships direct from the manufacturer in Canada. You can cancel free of charge within 14 days of placing your order. After 14 days a $350 change-or-cancel fee applies, and once the order is within 7 days of its ship date it can no longer be changed or cancelled. Once it ships the sale is final — the manufacturer does not accept returns. Transit damage, missing parts and manufacturing defects are always covered, and are handled through the freight-claim and warranty process set out in our Refund & Return Policy. Full freight terms are in our Shipping Policy.

Shipping & delivery
Shipping cost: Curbside freight delivery is free on this item within the contiguous US.
Most in-stock orders ship within 3–5 business days of confirmed payment, and delivery is typically 5–15 business days after shipment. Made-to-order saunas and custom-configured rooms need production time on top of that, which we confirm before the order is released. We ship within the contiguous United States.
Large items ship LTL freight on a pallet, delivered curbside — to the curb or the end of your driveway, often from a trailer up to 53 feet long. Curbside does not include unpacking, assembly, installation or electrical connection. The carrier calls to book an appointment and someone must be there to receive the shipment. Tell us at the time of order if access is limited — narrow or rural roads, steep driveways, gated communities — and ask for liftgate service if you have no dock or forklift.
Inspect the shipment before the driver leaves and before you sign. Count the cartons and pallets against the paperwork, check glass doors and panels, write any damage or shortage on the Delivery Receipt, and photograph it. Email info@plungeintosaunas.com within 48 hours of delivery with your order number, photos and the noted receipt — the same window covers concealed damage and missing items. Keep the packaging while a claim is open.
Cancellations & returns
Cancel before the order has been submitted for fulfillment and it is refunded in full — email info@plungeintosaunas.com with your order number. After that point manufacturer, carrier, return-freight or restocking fees may apply. Every return must be approved by us in writing first: products ship from different manufacturer warehouses, so the correct return address varies, and anything sent back without authorization may be refused.
Return requests are made within 30 days under our general policy; some brands run that window from the date of purchase rather than delivery. Items must be unused, uninstalled, never heated or filled, complete in their original packaging and in resalable condition. Restocking fees run up to 25% depending on the manufacturer, while Harvia, HUUM, SaunaLife, Saunum, Narvi, ThermaSol, Delta, Kohler and Mr. Steam charge no restocking fee at all, only a re-boxing fee of roughly $20–$50 if the original packaging does not come back intact. On a change-of-mind return you pay return shipping and the original outbound shipping is not refunded.
If the item arrived damaged or a manufacturer error is at fault, return shipping is covered for you. Custom, made-to-order and special-order items already in production, clearance and open-box items, heaters that have been wired or fired, tubs and generators that have been filled, assembled or heated rooms, opened consumables and all Canadian Timber Collection products cannot be returned. Ask us before you buy if you are unsure.

Setting up
What happens between checkout and your first session.
-
Your sauna arrives crated on a pallet by LTL freight, delivered to the curb. The carrier calls ahead to book a window, and the driver's job ends at ground level — they lower the pallet and leave it at the end of your driveway. Line up two people and a clear path to move the pieces from there; a full kit can run well over 1,000 lb.

-
What you need at the panel depends on the heater you pair with the room, and on extras like lighting. Electric heaters take a dedicated 240 V circuit sized to their output, with the breaker and wire gauge set by that heater's manual. Final hookup is a licensed electrician's job. Wood-burning stoves need no power at all — just a chimney kit and the clearances the manual specifies.

-
A level, load-bearing base is the part worth getting right. A concrete pad, patio stones over compacted gravel, or a deck rated for the loaded weight all work, as does an interior floor that carries the load. Leave the heater clearances from the manual and room for the door to swing, and check local permit rules before you build.
